An even pressure, a precise feed, fewer accidents and a clean result, many carpenters can hardly imagine working on a spindle moulder and other woodworking machinery without a feeder. In many joineries the feeder - also called roller feeder - is part of the standard equipment. Feed speed, roll diameter and roll width vary according to requirements. Feeders are available in numerous performance classes, speeds and with up to eight feed rollers. Have a look at Surplex: here you will find used feeders, e.g. from HOLZPROFI, HOLZKRAFT, HOLZHER or WEGOMA - at a fair price!

The term "feeder" is commonly associated with a cutting tool being led along a piece of material at a constant speed. The feeder determines one of the two speeds that are relevant for the machining process. The second speed is the spindle speed, which displays how fast a drill or mill rotates around the middle axes. A feeder actually only complies with this definition in the broadest sense. A feeder does ensure a defined and controlled forwards movement, but this is applied onto the material, not the tool. Feeders execute a step by step or a continuous movement of material strips.

The feeder is implemented where the processing of material strips needs to be undertaken automatically. If one does not want to invest in a whole assembly line, a small reforming of the machine and the integration of a feeder can already make the process more automatic.
  • Produces a defined forwards movement
  • Allows for continuous possessing
  • High levels of automatic processing without an assembly line
Quality   Great offers   Personalized Because it is ideal to use material strips for feeders, the automation of the punching process is a useful undertaking to increase efficiency. The punch has to be individually equipped with an automatic release device.

There is a large variety of feeders available. The smallest feeders are made out of a stand, upon which the actual machine is mounted. This contains a motor that operates several rubber rollers. Alternatively, one rubber roller can be operated by the others. The rubber is pressed onto the band material. When switching on the motor, the rubber rollers pull the band forwards. Depending on what is required, most feeders can undertake a defined step by step or a continuous operation. The traction of the feeder depends on its size, the power of its motor and its pressing power. The choice of feeder is thereby determined by the workpiece.
Feeders are accessory machines and can be implemented in a variety of ways. Because they are used to make a manufacturing process automatic, only set up and monitoring tasks can be carried out on them. Modern feeders are so well covered, that they do not have any pinching or crushing hazards. They are relatively easy to maintain. Because the actually manufacturing process takes place at a distance, the wear and tear of a feeder is manageable. High wear and tear on feeders on occurs when the dimensions are too small. If a feeder is always pushed to its limit, it becomes apparent through the wear and tear on its rollers.

Recommended suppliers of feeders are MAGGI, KURZ, HOLZHER, VSA and HOLZPROFI.
