There is a range of different types of transportable welding devices found in numerous industrial sectors. Welding devices are used to bind materials together through the creation of heat, or to separate materials (e.g. large steel plates).
Welding is usually used for metal and plastic materials; there are different types of processes for each. Autogenous welding is when a very hot oxyacetylene flame comes out of the nozzle of a welding torch. A welding wire is applied by hand, and through the creation of heat, the materials melt into one another. The two gases are kept in a gas container and then guided out through the nozzle via a tube. The gasses can be regulated through valves that are located on the handle of the torch.
During arc welding, an arc is used that is created through electric energy. The MIG-/MAG- welding device also uses an arc. Additionally, a thin welding wire is fed into the machine and comes out of the nozzle at the end of the handle.

This process is commonly used in steel construction and guarantees a very strong bond between the workpieces. Argon is used as a protective gas. Carbon dioxide and oxygen are active ingredients in the gas mixture. WIG welding, which means “Wolfram inert gas welding", uses an arc in a controlled atmosphere. A resistance welding machine is commonly used for spot welding. A device that is a modification of this one is the seam welder, which can be used to produce seams.
Ultrasonic welding is another process. This is mainly used to join together plastic workpieces and it ensures a cohesive bond between the two. In addition to these processes, there are other welding technologies like laser beam welding, induction welding and tungsten inert gas welding. Different types of welding devices like build-up welding machines, stud welding machines, gasket welders, precision spot welders, inverter welding machines, socket welders and tandem welding devices, are all available in a variety of styles.
