KUPER FW/J 920 Veneer Splicing Machine

In order to process veneer, special woodworking machinery is used, i.e. the veneer splicing machines. These enable professional gluing and pressing of the sensitive material. A veneer gluing machine, e.g. the zigzag machine, applies the gluing thread gently and is also suitable for wavy veneers. Machines for unfolding, finger jointing and transverse joining are available for the subsequent processing steps. At Surplex you will find a used veneer splicing machine with suitable feed and desired throat depth. Among them the popular FWJ and FWM products from KUPER with a recent year of construction!

A veneer splicing machine is used for the gluing together of single veneer sheets. A glue thread is applied here using a heated thread guide in a zigzag or wave form on a veneer sheet. The glue thread is later polished off or pressed into the veneer. The veneer splicing machine ensures tight joints, strong bond and a high resistance to ripping. Therefore, also very wavy veneer can be processed. Several versions of this machine can also undertake double-sided gluing and trimming. Using this method, panels glued longitudinally with the glue thread can be strengthened on the narrow edges and trimmed.

The pre-determined veneer dimensions are set into adjustable spindles. A brake motor regulates the continuous operating speed. Smaller machines are specialised in improving damaged veneer sheets. The damaged areas are punched to evenly fit the veneer sheet again. Other machines are used to lengthen the veneers to a fixed length or veneer roll. An interlocking joint is then stamped on the front and the individual veneers can be connected and glued together. Cable cutters are then used to cut the veneer lengths and make veneer rolls using a winding station.

KUPER Veneer splicing machines in use
Since the 14th century, the occupation of veneer making was developed as a type of handy work. The wide use of veneering first arose with the invention of industrial machines. In the field of veneer splicing machines, the interlocking joint machine made it possible in the 1970s to produce endless veneer rolls.

The veneer splicing machine manufactures veneers of specific lengths and veneer rolls for the furniture industry, carpentry, and door and window manufacturing. Other areas of application include interior construction of buildings and the interiors of automobiles, boats and airplanes. The veneer splicing machines ensure that there is an even glue thread and the right amount of pressing time and temperature is used. It also provides the opportunity to produce wavy veneer. The models are developed through a variety of techniques. By using a uniform model, all veneer sheets can be produced in the same style. Veneer sheets are arranged in a reverse order. When gluing them together, every other one is rotated and glued to the head of the other ones. Cross joints are generated when veneer sheets are twice overthrown. Here, two veneer sheets are laid vertically and two further sheets are then horizontally folded apart from each other. Other design options include high-quality grain processing or a mix of different materials.

Second hand veneer splicing machines are available from the expert company KUPER.
