Fritz STUDER AG is a leading Swiss brand with expertise in the creation of precision cylindrical grinding machines. With around 800 members of staff throughout Europe, STUDER employs around 100 in the research and development sector of the business alone. STUDER invests highly in new technology and offers customised solutions for every grinding task.

Since its establishment in 1912, STUDER has been at the forefront of grinding machines. The company has manufactured over 20,000 grinding systems in its time, and first started exporting its machines to Russia and China in the 1930s, followed by the USA in the 1940s. STUDER's history of innovation involves the development of the world's first hydraulically-controlled cylindrical grinding machine (1936) and the the world's first CNC cylindrical grinding machine (1977).

Conventional: These products are intended for medium-sized workpieces in individual or batch production. The S20 is a compact grinder which is suited to manufacturing small precision components, whilst the S30 boasts a larger, classical design for medium-sized components.

Universal: These machines incorporate the latest high-tech features for industries such as toolmaking and aerospace which require precision and versatility. The S21, S31 and S33 can be automated for high batch production.

Production: For a range of large scale production needs, these machines offer short reaction times and high-speed grinding options. The S11, S12 and S22 are tailored to different size work spaces.

Combination: The S242 efficiently combines the technologies of cylindrical grinders and hard turning for dual usage. STUDER offers a comprehensive range of services, from initial start-up to staff training, maintenance, inspection and remote assistance from their Customer Care team.

STUDER continues to expand as an international company, with 800 employees to date in Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, Turkey, Japan and China. Around 100 staff work in research and development, and approximately 100 are employed in a Customer Service capacity. In 1994, STUDER was integrated into the KOERBER SCHLEIFRING group, a German AG which recorded over 150 million EUR net profit in 2012.
