1999: Surplex is founded as a startup in Düsseldorf.
2000-2003: The stock market hype of the New Economy drives Surplex.com AG to stormy growth. When the bubble bursts, Surplex falls into a severe crisis.

2004-2008: Managing director Michael Werker consolidates Surplex under the umbrella of a sales company.
2009: Michael Werker and Uli Stalter lead Surplex back into independence. When Surplex GmbH is founded, 16 employees are on board.
2011-2018: With Surplex Italia S.r.l. the first foreign branch office is founded. A few years later, Surplex is already represented in 11 European countries.
2019: 200 employees celebrate the 20th anniversary and move into a modern office building in the north of Düsseldorf.
2020: Internationally experienced manager Ghislaine Duijmelings joins Michael Werker and Uli Stalter as third managing director.
2021-2022: Despite the coronavirus crisis, business is expanding. With new offices in Austria, Portugal and the Netherlands, Surplex is now present in 15 countries.
2023: With the acquisition of HT Hanseatische Industrie-Consult GmbH, Surplex underlines its leading market position in the insolvency business. Thanks to the new office in Sweden, Surplex is now represented in 16 countries.
2024: In August 2024, Surplex becomes part of TBAuctions, a leading European multi-brand group (Troostwijk Auctions, Klaravik, Surplex, Auksjonen, PS Auctions, British Medical Auctions, Vavato and Auktionshuset dab) and digital B2B auction platform.
In October, Surplex celebrates its 25th anniversary and remains true to its core ideas of sustainability, innovative customer service and forward-looking solutions.
