Cogeneration plant for the electricity production from renewable sources
The machine was created to be fueled with vegetable oils of rapeseed, sunflower and soybean oil, but thanks to the complex heated introduction system, it can burn animal fats and palm oil.
The hourly production of electricity is equal to 940 kw/h
The machinery is composed of:
- power source with fuel heating before combustion (underground tanks excluded)
- WÄRTSILÄ NSD 6R22/26 engine, produced in 1999 with a power of 1,065 kw at 1,000 rpm (power reduced to 940 kw/h to comply with authorisations)
- alternator
- DENOX system control panel
- catalytic silencer with cover and chimney
- chiller for cooling and heating systems
- hot water generation system with heat exchanger for powering warehouse heating systems
- transformer room with control panels, Landis+Gyr E650 meter, MESSINA SVT/R+AC/R medium voltage disconnect switches, transformer (masonry box excluded)
- spare parts for most wear components in order to never have long repair times (set of valves and injection pumps, 4 overhauled heads, everything needed to dismantle valves and heads for maintenance, special wrenches, specific jacks, compression tests, etc.)
The plant is equipped with a practically new smoke reduction system (SCR) as there are all the components on the ground to replace the DeNox bricks. The urea dosing system is completely automatic with daily online control.
Furthermore, the entire vegetable oil treatment plant has a redundant system as the entire transfer line has a double pump system.
The air and oil cooling system is oversized precisely in anticipation of it being used in warmer areas compared to the previous allocation (Finland).
The VTR184 turbine is new, mounted 2 months before the shutdown.
The plant is currently stopped due to the need to replace a damaged piston rod. The repair was estimated at €60,000-70,000 (changing piston rod, piston and cylinder grinding)
